- The Technology Center has developed a web tool that allows, through wireless sensors, monitor the energetic performance of a space, as for example an office.
- The base of the ICT tool is of the Catalan company Sensing & Control Systems, and consists in software at two levels: a "middleware" and a web interface that provides remote access to the Zigbee device of measurement and control.
- The ICT tool helps to understand how make buildings or offices more energy-efficient, as well as to identify, evaluate and prevent labor risks associated with temperature, light and humidity.
- The building Media-TIC, where are located the centre offices, has been the space for the pilot test in real of the SmartOffice project.
Barcelona Digital, technology centre specialized in the ICT research and development and TECNIO member -the ACC1Ó network that promotes the technology transfer and business innovation in Catalonia-, has developed a R&D project, SmartOffice, to demonstrate the potential of ICT to design more energy-efficient spaces and offices and more secure for their employees.
With the new offices of Barcelona Digital in Media-TIC building as a "living laboratory" for the project, the SmartOffice aims is the construction of a technological environment based on the deployment of a sensors wireless network, that measure environmental factors of space such as temperature, light and humidity, and can also monitor the energy waste of office.
Sensing & Control Systems provides (including installation) measurement and control devices based in Zigbee technology and its IT platform, enControl. The IT platform provides bidirectional communication to energy monitoring devices and control in commercial environments and home with a Web interface compatible with desktops, tablets and touch-mobile devices.
The tool also will be equipped with monitoring, control and service tools, and can manage some of these environmental factors so that stay within the recommended parameters. In this way, will provide greater efficiency in the use of energy resources and prevent potential risks related to environmental conditions in the working environment.
